There’s a little Irish Village
And they call it Purdysburn,
Where a little boy with ginger hair
Is awaiting my return.
And a loving wife and daughter
Will fondly greet me there,
And have such tales to tell me
As we sit around the fire.
How lovely is the Village
In the early morning light,
When I see it after sailing
Upon the sea all night.
And the boy will run to meet me
And the first thing he will say,
Is, “Daddy tell me Daddy
have you come back to stay?”
Oh, its good to stay where you belong
But it’s only those who roam,
Who ever know the pleasure
And the joy of coming home.
